 In earthquake prone areas ,houses are usually built with wood .Why?

@ Maria : Kriss is very much right. The houses are made up of wood in the earthquake prone area as woods are flexible and they sway with the surface wave of quake. Thus does not fall or break easily.

Houses made from bamboo are very good at resisting earthquakes due to its lightweight and favorable elastic properties. Bamboo possesses excellent strength properties, especially tensile strength and much more flexible than hard wood and concrete materials.

it is built with wood instead of a metal because metal or other materials may be heavy! if an earthquake occurs the roof may fall on your head. to avoid much damage the roof is made of a lighter material like wood!
