In example 2...how can any number be smaller than 5 and greater than 7 ??? plz explain....

The solution we are getting is z < 5 and z > 7.

So, any number lying between 5 and 7 will not be part of solution set.

So, any number below 5 will be part of solution set and any number above 7 will be part of its solution set.
