In NCERT class 11 chapter biomolecules in figure 9.3 there is a word written amino acid Residue and in front of it it is written that n -2 and n -1... what is n here ?

The 'n' in the figure denotes the number and the sequence of amino acids arranged in the polypeptide chain of the primary structure of the protein. If 'n' is the starting number of amino acid in the polypeptide chain, then 'n-1' will be amino acid residue present before the 'n' amino acid and 'n+1' will be the amino acid residue present after the main amino acid 'n'.
