in the sun the nuclear reactions that occur produce heat and light. hydrogen atoms combine to form helium atoms. But the hydrogen atom does not contain any netrons. when two hydrogen atom combine, than how does a helium atom form with neutrons in it's nuleus?

Hydrogen has many isotopes (seven to be exact) which are elements having same atomic number but different atomic masses. Protium is the first one and the only one which has a single electron and proton and no neutron all the others have at least one neutron in their nucleus. In the sun its deuterium (second isotope) that gets fused into another deuterium to form a helium atom. A deuterium has one neutron in its nucleus and this explains why the helium formed has two neutrons.

Hope your query is resolved now.
