In what ratio does the point (-4,6) divide the line segment joining the points A(-6,10) and B(3,-8) ?

Let the ratio be k:1

co ordinates of P = -6+3k / k+1    ,    10-8K / K+1

BUT P IS (-4,6)

:. -6+3k / k+1 = -4

    7k                = 2

      k                = 2/7

:. the ratio is 2:7
