Coordinates of point of intersection of line segment PQ and y-axis $= (\frac{k \times 3 + 1 \times (- 4)}{k + 1}, \frac{k \times (- 7) + 1 \times 5}{k + 1}) = (\frac{3 k - 4}{k + 1}, \frac{- 7 k + 5}{k + 1})$ On the y-axis, x = 0 âˆ´ x-coordinate of point of intersection of line segment PQ and y-axis = 0 $\Rightarrow \frac{3 k - 4}{k + 1} = 0$ â‡’ 3 k â€“ 4 = 0 $\Rightarrow k = \frac{4}{3}$ Thus, y-axis divides the line segment PQ in the ratio 4 : 3
