A social message can be conveyed through a medium of entertainment and drama fits the bill because it is an interactive, spontaneous and immediate medium of entertainment. Drama can be considered to be an appropriate medium for dissemination of a message because its impact is prompt and it engages the audience as the play unfolds. There people on stage enacting stories, a form of entertainment that effectively generates awareness about a social cause. Somehow, the impact of a play is direct compared to that of a film where there is a distance between the audience and the actors. But in a play,the actors are onstage,right there in front of the audience and it seems more real. Noted playwrights have used to the medium of drama much before films came to be in vogue to spread a social message and this medium's effectiveness and credibility have been proved beyond doubt.
