Is the process in the fig the same as the formation of an acetal?

Generally,
1. When aldehyde group attached with R1 reacts with Alcoholic group attached with R2 then i hemiacetal formation takes place and if the alcoholic group attached with R2 again reacts with hemicaetal it will give us the acetal formation.
2. Here R1 and R2 can be same or different and the acetal so formed may be homogeneous or heterogeneous.
