it was more of virginia's goodness of heart than the ghost's pathetic story that prompted virginia to agree to help him

Dear student

We see right from the beginning that Virginia was quite different from the rest of her family. When she saw the ghost had been using her paint instead of blood, she didn't want to give the ghost away and remained quiet about it. Later on, when she ran into the ghost, she did not run away or humiliate him like the rest of her family had been doing. Instead she approached the ghost and spoke to him as she would with a human being, and understood the problem that the ghost had with moving on into the afterlife. It was because of the goodness of her heart that she treated the ghost with respect, listened to him and decided to help him, even though the wicked voices tried to scare her, telling her to go away.
