John is a hypocrite. Do you agree with this statement . why / why not ?
John said that he did not believe in the romance portrayed in best sellers. He believed the stories too good to be true. However, his own story was fantastical. His wife, the only daughter of the oldest family in Virginia, met him, an ordinary travel salesman of a plate glass company, in a journey where he would have least expected to find his life partner. Their courtship also was too fantastical, and even after all the episode, the fashion in which Pescud criticised love stories of best sellers proves him to be a hypocrite.

John’s behavior is definitely hypocritical. He openly denounces bestsellers claiming that they are quite unrealistic. He believes that the stories involving a boy and a girl in the so-called bestsellers are a far cry from reality. He tells the narrator that in real life, a boy normally looks for a girl who is somewhat familiar and wonders why people have an affinity for bestsellers.
However, when John narrates his love story to the narrator, we come to know that his love story was akin to what was normally written in the best sellers. John marries a girl who is not from her community or native place and who hails from an aristocratic family. This shows that John did not practice what he believed.

In my opinion John is a hypocrite. He usually denounces the best seller and told them unrealastic because a common man search a girl in his own town or area but in best seller a man who is american fall in love with a girl of france or Europe .
But in his own story he fall in love with a girl who live far away from his town.so this behaviour of john make him hypocrite...............
