Krishna performs an experiment to establish the relation between weight of a rectangular wooden block lying on a horizontal surface and minimum force required to just move it using a spring balance. If the weight of wooden block is 300 gwt and two known weights of 100 gwt each are to be successively placed on the wooden block to take two more readings, then which one of the following spring balances would you select to obtain the best result. It is known that a force of 90 gwt is required to just move the block on the surface.

(b) Range 0-200 gwt; least count 2.0 gwt

Dear Student

As there is is only one option given in your question so it seems your question is incomplete.

The weight of the wooden block is 300 gwt and then over that two weights each of 100 gwt are placed, then the net weight would become 500 gwt. So, a spring balance having a range between 0 to 500 gwt should be selected to get the result.
