Mention the location and the functions of the following:
i. Corpus callosum
ii.medulla oblongta

Dear Student,

(i) Corpus Callosum is a bundle of neural fibers that connects left and right cerebral hemisphere and carries on inter hemispheric communications. It is found beneath the cerebral cortex.
(ii) Medulla Oblongata is the structure found in the human brain. The major function of Medulla Oblongata is to control autonomic functions (that are not in human control) like breathing, respiration, heart Beat. It is also involved in body secretion, reflexes, swallowing, coughing and sneezing actions. Since Medulla Oblongata performs various functions critical to the body, damage to this structure can be fatal. It lies in the front part of the brain that is cerebellum.
