Mr crocker harris is not a sadist but still students are scared of him.why ?

Mr crocker harris is not a sadist but still his students are afraid of him because he would have feelings but he wouldn't show .He seems to hate those people who like him .it's funny.that make him different from other teachers and that's why his students are afraid of him.
