Mucosal lining of stomach of a person is affected very badly due to some food poisoning. Explain how this affects the process of digestion.

Mucous protect the stomach wall from damaging effect of HCl and digestion by pepsin.
Now that the mucosal lining is damaged, the walls of the stomach might get damaged by the highly acidic HCl, thus affecting the process of Digestion.
