my question is, why in the first case we divide to obtain the
answer and why in the second case we equate to obtain the answer
instead of dividing ( I doesn't need answer for the given sums I
need the reason for the above case )

Dear student We can do both either divide or equate in both the
cases We will get answer by the tge way Regards
