Name and explain the instrument used to measure rainfall

Rain gauge is the device that is used to measure rainfall   The instrument is fully marked with readings in millimetre (mm) and centimetre(cm) to measure the amount of liquid precipitation. When the water droplets fall in it during rainfall, they rise up reading by reading and after the rain stops, we can easily note down the markings.
