name of endocrine glands their functions and effect on behaviour

Pituitary Gland (situated in the head region) : is known as the master gland; it secretes many hormones like TSH, LH etc. to stimulate the secretions of other glands; also releases growth hormone

Thyroid gland (in the neck region) : releases thyroxin which increases the body's metabolism; absense of this hormone leads to the development of a disease called goitre

Pancreas (situated below stomach): releases insulin which helps the liver break down glucose for body's consumption, keeps blood sugar level under check

Adrenal glands (atop each kidney): the adrenal cortex releases corticoids, which deal with general physical processes like energy flow, body temperature etc. The adrenal medulla releases epinephrine and norepinephrine, also called adrenaline and noradrenaline. They respectively control the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions of the autonomic nervous systems.

Gonads (testes in males and ovaries in females): testes release testosterone. ovaries release estrogen. Testosterone and estrogen are responsible for the development of primary and secondary sexual characteristics in males and females. Ovaries also release progesterone, responsible for the maintenance of pregnancy.
