The narrator wanted to stop the man the moment he said about the wobble. But he assumed that the man was an experienced person and let him handle it. However, things took an unexpected turn when he started working with every part of the machine. Even though the narrator wanted to stop him, he was hesitant to hurt the man's feelings. But at the end of the story, the narrator understood that the man had done much damage to his bicycle but he was helpless.
