note on nutrition in bacteria please

Bacteria show both autotrophic nutrition and heterotrophic nutrition.Autotrophic nutrition is the nutrition where organism makes its own food. It can be of two types:
  1. Photoautotrophic nutrition where bacterial cell makes its own food in the presence of light, for example cyanobacteria.
  2. Chemoautotrophic nutrition where bacterial cell makes its own food by oxidising various inorganic substances present in environment such as nitrates, nitrites, ammonia etc. For example, sulphur bacteria, Nitrobacter, Nitrocystis etc.
Heterotrophic nutrition is the nutrition where organism gets its food from other organisms. This is the most common mode of  nutrition in bacteria. Such bacteria can be parasites, symbionts, or saprotrophs (decomposer bacteria).

Bacteria shows a great diversity in the mode of nutrition they exhibit. Some of them are autotrophs. They may be chemosynthetic autotrophs or photosynthetic autotrophs. Most of them are heterotrophs.
