The story 'Madam Rides the Bus' is about a courageous eight year old girl named Valli whose strongest desire was to travel in the bus and take a ride to the nearby town and back. To fulfil her dream, she put innumerable amount of effort in planning and saving for the bus journey. She was so determined to travel by the bus that she gave up candy, toys, balloons and even merry-go-round rides at the village fair to save the money for her trip. Even though Valli was only a child, she was smart and responsible and dealt with the adult passengers in a mature way. After her trip, Valli safely returned to her house on time without her mother's knowledge. Thus we can conclude that even a little girl with a strength of will can achieve her desires.
