That is why it is called a blanket of air surrounding the earth. yes it is true that air is transparent but there are obstacles blocking are view . There is dust , carbon particles , water vapour, sand particles , clouds etc blocking are veiw. It is also a long distance from been e to outer space. so all these are the factors for your quetion.
