Out of his total income, Rajiv spends 10%on transport , 60% on household and 5% on medicines. If he saves rupees 5000 what is his total income?

lets say that rajiv's income is x

income spent on transport = 10% of x = 10/100 x x = x/10

income spent on household = 60% of x = 60/100 x x = 3x/5

income spent on medicines = 5% of x = 5/100 x x = x/20

total money spent = x/10 + 3x/5 + x/20

= (2x + 12x + x)/20 = 15x/20

money he saves = Rs. 5000

:- x - 15x/20 = 5000

(20x - 15x)/20 = 5000

5x/20 = 5000

5x = 5000 x 20

5x = 100000

x = 100000/5

x = 20000

thus rajiv's salary if Rs. 20000
