In the presence of acid, the concentration of acid increases and the methyl orange remains in unionized form which is of red colour and in the presence of base it is converted into ionized form which gives Yellow colour.

Hence, the reason given is correct but it is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

Hence, the correct option is (B).
