Dear Student,
Given below is the answer to your fourth question. Kindly post the other questions in separate threads.

4. b) The main characters of the chapter The Open Window are Vera and Mrs. Sappleton. According to Vera, her aunt is expecting her husband and brothers to return from their hunting expedition. This is a story that has been fabricated by Vera.Mr. Nuttel comes to the home of the Sappleton family and notices an open window in the house. Vera, a young girl of 15 years, has made Nuttel believe that her aunt awaits the return of her husband and brothers who had gone on a hunting expedition three years back and never returned. This is a story that was untrue. The story can be considered a representation of Mrs Sappleton's inner self. She believed that her husband and her brothers would come home soon. She was not convinced about their disappearance. Therefore, the window can be seen as a sign of hope about the future and the return of the men. It is also a message by the author about the power of our mind to believe certain things and the influence it has upon our lives.

Regards.
