please explain in detail Most organic material is converted to carbon dioxide, that can then be utilized in primary production, by: 1. autotrophs 2. secondary consumers 3. herbivores 4. carnivores

Dear Students,

Carnivorous or the topmost trophic level ultimately converts the most organic material in CO2 which can be later utilised by primary producers. Carnivores perform metabolic reactions through which carbohydrate and other organic substances are converted into CO2. Primary production is done by autotrophs by utilising light energy, water and CO2. Autotrophs represent the first trophic level of ecosystem which gets energy from Sun and fix the CO2 in carbohydrates available for next trophic level i.e., herbivores or primary consumers. Hence option (4) is correct answer.

Hope it helps you!
Thanks and Regards.
