please explain me all the paragraph of rulling the empire

The empire was vast , so different parts were ruled differently.Area around Pataliputra was under control of emperor and officials were appointed to collect taxex from farmers , herders , crafts person and traders,who lived in villages and towns in the area.Officials also punished who disobeyed emperor's rules.Spies used to watch the officials work and finally emperor supervised everyone.The other areas was ruled from a capital such as Taxial or Ujjain.The vast areas between the centres , the Mauryans controlled rivers and roads,which were important for transport and collect resourceses as tax.Eg: Arthashastra gives information of north-west was important for blankets andsouth India for gold and precious stones.
