Dear student,
The poem talks about a village which is hit by water scarcity as the people with power (engineers) have reversed the course of the river that once enriched the lands of the village. The village used to be full of vegetation (pumpkin and tomatoes) is now barren due to water scarcity. Amidst all this, a woman of the village carries a pot of water on her head. She brings water to her people from somewhere far. The people of her village lookout for water trucks but no help is provided to them. The woman, however, walks miles just to get water for her people.
