Dear Student,

Rajvir narrated two legends about tea. The first legend related to a Chinese emperor who always boiled water before drinking it. It is believed that one day a few leaves of the twigs burning under the pot fell into the water and they gave it a delicious flavour. It is said that they were tea leaves.

The other legend told by Rajvir was an Indian legend. It is said that a Bodhidharma or an ancient Buddhist ascetic had cut off his eyelids to avoid sleep during meditations. Ten tea plants grew out of his eyelids. The leaves of these plants when added in hot water and drunk banished sleep.
