Q.7. Find the area enclosed by the following figures in which each pair of consecutive sides are at right angles.

Please find below the solution to the asked query:

As given : Each pair of consecutive sides are at right angle , So we form our diagram , As :

Here , ABCD , PQRS and EFGH are rectangle

And we know area of rectangle = Length $\times $ Breadth , So

Area of rectangle ABCD = AB $\times $ AD = 3 $\times $ 12 = 36 cm

Area of rectangle PQRS = PQ $\times $ QR = 3 $\times $ 12 = 36 cm

^{2}

And

Area of rectangle EFGH = EF $\times $ FG = 5 $\times $ 4 = 20 cm

^{2}

Therefore,

Area of given shape = Area of rectangle ABCD + Area of rectangle PQRS + Area of rectangle EFGH , Substitute all values we get :

**Area of given shape = 36 + 36 + 20 = 92 cm**
