As given : Each pair of consecutive sides are at right angle , So we form our diagram , As :

Here , ABCD , PQRS and EFGH are rectangle

And we know area of rectangle  =  Length $×$ Breadth , So

Area of rectangle ABCD  =  AB $×$ AD =  3 $×$ 12  =  36 cm2 ,

Area of rectangle PQRS =  PQ $×$ QR =  3 $×$ 12  =  36 cm2

And

Area of rectangle EFGH =  EF $×$ FG =  5 $×$ 4  =  20  cm2

Therefore,

Area of given shape  =  Area of rectangle ABCD + Area of rectangle PQRS + Area of rectangle EFGH , Substitute all values we get :

Area of given shape  = 36 + 36 + 20 =  92 cm2                                               ( Ans )
