 The external/foreign substance which causes allergy​ is called allergen. For example, pathogens, dust particles, pollens etc. When humans are exposed to the allegens, the immune system produce a hypersensitive response through the IgE antibody and  this condition is called allergy. Some allergies can cause rashes of skin while some can cause redness of eye, running nose, cough etc. These sensitivities are called as allergic reactions.
