Q.28. Velocity of sound in steel is 5000 $m{s}^{-1}$. A sound wave of frequency 1000 Hz is produced in a steel rail of length 20 m. Calculate total number of waves produced in the rail.

Here in this case , n = 1000 Hz and V = 5000 m/s

So the wavelength is , $\lambda =\frac{V}{n}=\frac{5000}{1000}=5m$

So the number of waves produced in 20 m length of the steel rail is = 20 /5 = 4 nos.
