National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) 2005 was passed in
September 2005
a The Act provides 100 days assured employment every year to
every rural household
b The act aims to ensure right to work and livelihood in rural
areas
c The act provides for minimum wage and focuses on labor
intensive techniques including making roads, provision for water
harvesting
d Its provisions have been extended to all the villages
e It provides for 1/3rd reservation of jobs for women
