Dear student,

 absolute poverty is the poverty conditions where an individual cannot meet the most basic commodities to sustain life and other normal activities whereas relative poverty the standard of living as compared to the standards of living for other people within the surrounding.

following are the areas where absolute poverty is measured-

​​​​​​- to know the biological needs of people residing in country (sanitation, food, shelter etc)
- government allocates resources and made budget accordingly (how much resources to be used for policies to eradicate poverty)
- when absolute values of income is needed
-it helps in making poverty alleviation programmes

following are the areas where relative poverty is measured-

- when comparison is to be made with other people in the environment
- it is estimated generally in those countries where income level is high
