Dear Student,

The following points may help you:

 a. Louis XVI   of the Bourbon family of kings became king of France in 1774. When he inherited the throne there was a growing discontent within the society of the Old Regime.
b.  The king inherited an empire with empty royal treasury, yet maintained extravagant lifestyle.

c.  Louis XVI, helped American colonies to gain Independence which further aggrevated problems and added to the misery putting the state under huge debt.

d. In order to deal with economic crisis, the French governemnt imposed more taxes burdening the people.
e.  Taxes were imposed to maintain the army, court, universities.
f. Further, the French society was characterised by grave social and economic disparities.
g. The third estate which primarily comprised of the peasants, who  were mainly engaged in subsistence farming, owned no land and were deprived of political rights. Peasants were burdened with heavy taxes, tithes, feudal dues, offered services to the Lords.
h. Bad harvest, crop failure brought them on the brink of starvation.
i. The cultivation and production of grains could not meet the growing demand of the society resulting in hike in prices, resulting in food riots and rising dissatisfaction among the people.
j. Droughts , hails further aggravated the problem effecting the harvest resulting in subsistence crisis. While the National Assembly had convened, France witnessed economic crisis due to extreme winters which resulted in the crop failure, bad harvest.
k. This was followed by increase in prices, peasants uprising who looted, hoarded grains. This situation could certainly be referred as hyper inflation as, during this time, Old regime faced serious monetary and fiscal deficit
l.  The value of French currency had also depreciated and also there was not enough money being circulated, causing further trouble and aggravating problems.

Dear Bhavesh,
I have learnt this as the answer:
The reasons were,
1. The population of France increased from 23 million in 1715 to 28 million in 1789. The increase in population meant increase in requirement of food for people.
2. Production of foodgrains could not keep pace with the requirement the people. The prices of bread which was the staple diet of the people also rose.
3. Workers have to work in workshops. The owners decided their wages by themself. However, The wages given to the workers could not keep pace with the requirement of the workers.
4. Whenever, there was a drought or hail,A condition called subsistence crisis emerged, meaning when the basic requirements of the citizens are endangered.
Hope it helps!
All the best....
