(ii) Saliva is the watery fluid secreted in the mouth by the action of salivary glands. Saliva contains an enzyme salivary amylase which digests 30% of the carbohydrates intake partially in the mouth which further gets digested in later parts of the digestive system. It also masticates the food. That is why it is said to chew the food well.

(iii) A muscle cramp occurs when the muscle tightens and therefore shortens, causing sudden and severe pain. Cramps are categorized according to their different causes and the muscle groups they affect. It generally results from overexertion and dehydration. Lack of oxygen may convert pyruvate into 3 Carbon lactic acid which can cause cramps.
