a. Star is a large celestial or heavenly body having its own light. It is a small luminous dot that can be seen in the cloudless portion of the night sky, especially with a fixed location relative to other such dots. It consists of hydrogen and helium gases. E.g. Sun is a star.
A constellation is a group of stars which forms a pattern or shape that might resemble some mythological figure. Ursa is an example of a constellation.
b. Planets are celestial bodies moving around the sun; stars are celestial bodies around which planets, asteroids, comets etc revolve.
II. Planets may or may not have satellites; stars never have any satellite, but they are known to have planets revolving around them.
III. Planets are generally cold and shine by reflecting light from a star; stars have their own light, they are very hot.
Example of planets- Earth, Saturn etc.
Example of stars- Sun
