Q. An old man cannot see objects closer than 1m from the eye clearly. Name the defectofvision he is suffering from.
Should the answer be hypermetropia or presbyopia?
Iwrote the answer as prebyopia. Ijust want a confirmation.

presbyopia is also a special kind of hypermetropia. It is old age hypermetropia. It is that defect in which an old person cannot see nearby objects dueto loss of power of accomodation of the eye. It is mentioned in the question that the man is old, so i wrote prebyopia.

You are partially correct but you will not get any mark for your answer. The correct answer is hypermetropia.

Hypermetropia: It is the defect of the eye because of which nearby objects cannot be seen clearly. Image is formed in behind the retina. It is also called Farsightedness.

Presbyopia: It is the defect of eye in which a person cannot see further as well as nearer objects clearly. This defect of vision commonly occurs to old people.

ans will be hypermetropia it can't be presbyopia as in prebyopia a old man can neither see near objs. nor far objs.

in presbyopia they need upper part as of concave lens and downer part as convex lens

here are some facts about presbyopia~
Presbyopia is hypermetropia caused by loss of power of accomodation of the eye due to old age. Presbyopia defect is corrected in the same way as hypermetropia by using spectacles having convex lenses. So, the diagram will be the same as hypermetropia's diagram.

Bifocal lenses are used for a person suffering from both hypermetropia and myopia. Thats a different case alltogether.

So, shouldnt it be presbyopia??
