Q. Calculate the area of the shaded regions given below:-

Dear student

Here AB=CD=12m  and BC=AD=9mand DO=DC-OC=12-2=10 mand DE=OF=7.5mand also EF=DO=10 mNow, Area of shaded region=Area of rectangleABCD-Area of rectangle EFDO=AB×BC-EF×FO   area of rectangle=length×breadth=12×9-10×7.5=108-75=33 m2

Area of shaded region is equal to area of rectangle minus area of square

The length of the rectangle =12 cm
The breadth of the rectangle =9 cm
So, if we take out the dimensions of the unshaded part
the length will be =(12-2) cm
                                   =10 cm
and the breadth will be 7.5cm
Therefore the area of the unshaded part =(10*7.5) cm
                                                                =75 cm
Now we know the dimensions of the whole rectangle =length is 12 cm and breadth is 9 cm
Therefore the area of the whole rectangle =(12*9) cm
                                                                   =108 cm
So, the area of the shaded part of the rectangle =(108-75) cm
                                                                            =33 cm
Ans)The area of the shaded part is 33 cm
