there given the general equation of parabola and its conditions in note section.
general equation is ax² + 2hxy + by² + 2gx + 2fy + c = 0 , if h² = ab .
in this question , h = 2 and a = lambda and b = 1.
on putting in h² = ab . you will get lambda as 4
