Q1) How can check dams be constructed?
Q2) How would they affect the underground water levels?

Dear Student.

Check dams are small, temporary dams built across a channel, river, or a lake. Check dams can easily be constructed in areas where permanent structures are difficult to construct and are not feasible to operate. Check dams can be constructed using well-graded stones of different sizes and cement.

Check dams reduce the speed of the flowing water in the river system on which it is built. The reduced speed of water gives enough time for water to infiltrate or speed into the ground, thus increasing the groundwater level in that particular area.

Regards.
