1. Mechanical solidarity is result of similarity between the members of a society while organic solidarity is result of interdependence of the members of society.
2. Mechanical solidarity was seen in pre modern societies but organic solidarity is seen in most recent times of society.
3. Mechanical solidarity can be found in a small village community or traditional societies while organic solidarity can be found in complex and industrial areas . 
4. People of mechanical solidarity are having similar beliefs , behaviour or ethnicity or something that is similar to the other members of the society while in organic solidarity people may or may not have similar thinking , beliefs or ethnicity.
5. Less interdependence amongst themselves in society with mechanical solidarity while high interdependence amongst people in society with organic solidarity. 
6. Complex division of labour in society with organic solidarity while minimum division is seen in society with mechanical solidarity.
