Here n = 5, because transition is made from 5th orbit to the ground state
So, the total number of spectral lines can be formulated using the formula -
(n - 1) + (n - 2) + (n - 3) + (n - 4) + (n - 5)
= (5 - 1) + (5 - 2) + (5 - 3) + ( 5 - 4) + (5 - 5) = 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 + 0 = 10
Thus, there are 10 spectral lines and we know, visible lines lie in the Balmer Series, where, n = 2
So, total spectral lines in visible region = 3
Therefore, number of non-visible lines = Total spectral lines - spectral lines in visible region
= 10 - 3 = 7
