Reaction of hot and concentrated nitric acid with copper

Dear student,

Cu(s) + 4HNO3(aq) → Cu(NO3)2(aq) + 2NO2(g) + 2H2O(l)

Nitric acid reacts with copper to form red-brown nitrogen dioxide gas and a hot, concentrated solution of copper(II) nitrate, which is blue in colour.

Regards.

Hi Priyanshi...

Nitric acid reacts with copperaccording to the reaction: 4 HNO3(l) + Cu(s) ==> Cu(NO3)2(s and aq) + 2 NO2(g) + 2 H2

O(l) The copper nitrate salt that forms is a deep blue color. The nitrogen dioxide is a maroon vapor.

HOPE
IT WILL HELP....
