Rise of Ahmedabad as a commercial city

Ahmedabad is the finacial capital of the state of Gujarat. Industrial sector is the major source of employment in the city. Post independence , Ahmedabad has grown manifold in the last seven decades. Ahmedabad rose as a commercial city with the development of textile, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, growth in IT/ITeS space etc. Moving of Tata Plant Sanand region , made the region into a major industrial hub of the city. This has also led to the development of Real Estates in and around the region.Setting up of educational institutions has also improved the city a lot. Institutes like IIM, NID etc has made Ahmedabad a hotspot for young and talented graduates. An International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) has also been set up which spreads over 261 acres.The IFSC is likely to generate over 2 lakh jobs in the coming years. The GIFT city is another focal point for domestic and global IT and ITeS companies.
