Dear Student,

i- Velocity is defined as speed in a particular direction. When either the speed or direction changes we can say that there has been a change in the velocity.

The rate of change of velocity will give you acceleration.

Now, the change in velocity will have both magnitude(of speed) and direction. Hence, acceleration is a vector.
