Slave trade was a slap on humanity keeping this statement in mind sum up the process of slave trade and steps taken to abolish it
It was truly a scar on the whole humanity because people who were poor or downtrodden were bought and sold like animals.They were treated like beasts of burden.They were given treatment like as they were of no value ,with no pains etc.It was abolished in France as:
1) The National Assembly held debates about extending the Rights of Man to all in France and in colonies abroad.
2) However, no laws were passed, because cities such as Bordeaux and Nantes as well as large number of businessmen depended on slave trade for their prosperity.
3) The Convention believed in extending the Rights of Man to all citizens including those living in French colonies so that under French Law all are treated equally.
4) Thus, the Convention brought forward the changes and thus abolished slave trade in 1794.
