Refer to the given venn diagram and select the incorrect option regarding structures V,W,X,Y and Z.
A. V could be an outermost protective covering which is composed of lipopolysaccharides in bacteria and cellulose in plant.
B. Y could be a membrane-less organelle involved in protein synthesis where as Z could be an ingrowth of cell membrane that contains respiratory enzymes.
C. Both W and X could be double membrane structures but inner membrane of W is smooth whereas that of X is thrown into folds.
D. W takes part in photosynthesis whereas Z connects genetic material  with plasma membrane.

Dear Student,

As per the figure the potions are as follows.

A.) V depicts the cell wall which is mainly made of cellulose in plant cells and lipopolysaccharides in bacterial cell. Cell wall is absent in animal cell and thus V is common only to plant and bacterial cell in the venn diagram. Thus this option is CORRECT.

B.) Y depicts ribosomes, common to all three plant, animal and bacterial cell, thus present in the centre of the Venn diagram. Z on the other hand, depicts Mesosomes. They are inner foldings developed in bacterial cell membrane to help them in respiration. (Though the presence of mesosomes is debated by many scientists). Mesosomes are unique to bacterial cells. i.e they are present in bacterial cells only and are thus exclusively present in bacterial cell region in the venn diagram. Thus this option is also CORRECT.

C.) W here depicts chloroplasts (plastids). They are double layered organelles unique to plant cells. their inner layer is smooth. On the other hand, though, X talks about features of Mitochondria, it is not valid because mitochondria is present in both plant and animal cell with similar structures and functions in both cells. There is no other double membrane organelle unique to animal cell only. Thus depiction of X is wrong. It cannot be mitochondria. It would have been possible if X was drawn common to both plant and animal cells. Thus in this option W is CORRECT and X is INCORRECT.

D.) W, as mentioned earlier is chloroplast and thus can take part in photosynthesis. Z as we deduced in the previous option, might have depicted Mesosomes. In some cases, mesosomes are known to convert into vesicles which can carry any material within them. Thus it might be possible that Z, i.e mesosomes might help in connecting genetic material as well. thus this option is CORRECT.
