somebody please explain bohr's effect in respiration

Bohr effect plays an important role in diffusion of oxygen into the blood in lung and in the release of oxygen in tissues. CO2 reacts with water and results in the formation of H2CO3. This reaction is catalyzed by enzyme carbonic anhydrase.  Formation of carbonic anhydrase lowers the pH in the active tissues. This condition causes break down of bonds of oxy hemoglobin for the release of oxygen. This is known as bohr effect.
