"Sophie's dream world clashes with the world of her family and friends".do you think Sophie is able to balance her dream world with her reality?comment.

For human beings, fact and fiction do not belong to water-tight compartments because often the lines between the two become blurred in our mind. Sophie willingly leads herself into believing things that might not be true or simply made up in her mind. We often suffer thanks to the figments of our own imagination and that is where the lines drawn begin to erode between fact and faction. What seems fact dissolves into fiction and fiction seems more real. In spite of what the people around her make her out to be, Sophie was a sensitive and intuitive girl. She was quite perceptive as is evident from the way she can read people and situations. However, she does not refrain from taking the plunge because she does not come across as one to accept regrets in life. She wants to make her own mistakes and learn from them. When Danny Casey does not come, we find her waiting and measuring the changes taking place in her. She was acutely aware of these changes and of the hard burden that sadness was. She knew that people already doubted her but that did not deter her from walking home with her head held high. Unknown things do have a way of attracting people towards them but for someone like Sophie, it was much more than that. She was aware of the outcome but she decided to take the plunge because it did not matter to her if she won or lost. She was concerned with the ability to make the choice and in some way determine the course of her life.
