 Canal rays are streams of positive ions in a rarefied gas.

1.These rays travel in straight line. 

2.These rays can penetrate through small thickness of matter. 

3.These rays get deflected by electric and magnetic field in direction opposite to cathode rays.This shows that they are positively charged. 

4.These rays produce fluorescence.
